"The hospital has been there for my family and I want it to be there for many more."

"After my hip replacement in October, staff and nurses were the best. Thank-you!"
My name is Olivia Duwyn, and I am in second year at King’s University, hoping to get into the social work program. I am doing a fundraiser for the adolescent mental health beds at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital, because this program has helped me out a great deal in the past. I struggle with depression and anxiety, and have ended up in these hospital beds on numerous occasions due to suicide attempts, and me not being able to keep myself safe. The staff who work here have always been so amazing, and are the kindest, most welcoming people. Between the child psychologist, the CYW’s, and the nurses on this floor, I know that when I was admitted here I would be safe and well taken care of. I honestly cannot thank everyone who has been part of my journey enough, and I am very proud to say that I am on my way to recovery now thanks to the help and support I have received from GBHS.
Basically, my fundraiser is going to result in me doing a broken triathlon. Once we get to $1000 raised (GOAL REACHED!), I am going to swim 1km outside in the bay. Once we reach $2,500 (GOAL REACHED!!) I am going to bike 25km around Owen Sound, and once we reach $4,220 (GOAL REACHED!!!) am going to run 42.2km, which is the same distance as a marathon. I will be completing these events in Owen Sound and the surrounding areas, and once again, all of the money will be going to the child and adolescent psychiatric beds at the Owen Sound hospital.
NOW I AM RAISING THE BAR! With your support, I know we can get to $10,000!
I would love it if I could have your support in completing this event, either through a donation or by sharing this website with your friends, family, and neighbours.
Mental health is a difficult subject, which should definitely not be the case because 1 in 4 people report struggling with their mental health. Talking is the BEST way to eliminate this stigma, and so TALK to your friends, family, and loved ones, because not everyone who is struggling appears to be struggling.
“Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you, doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.”
AS OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2020 I HAVE RAISED $9160!
Stay tuned for photos of my run!
PS – I have increased my fundraising goal to $10,000! Help me get there by donating securely below.
