Tara Legion President, Carol Walko, left presents a $500 donation to Foundation Executive Director, Amy McKinnon in support of new IV & pain pumps for use throughout the hospital.

Markdale Rotary supports cancer care

In July, a golf tournament in support of the hospital's Mammography program was held in Meaford.  $2,680 was raised in support of new equipment for the program!  Pictured left to right are: Barb Harron and Anne Robertson from Diagnostic Imaging at GBHS, Bev Reed, Marg Tirpkoff and Joan Jenson.

Markdale Rotary supports cancer care

Markdale Rotary hosted its 2017 Cross Country “SkiAround” in February with proceeds for Camp Quality and the GBHS Cancer Centre.  On June 20, Rotarians presented a gift of $6,500 to Cancer Centre Manager, Gail Elliott.

Radio for Oncology Radiothon raises $32,000!

Meredith Bond, News & Sports, Don Vail, Program Director, Jamie Hiembecker, Sales & Marketing Rebecca Dunphy, General Manager and Mark Hendrie, Announcer at 92.3 the Dock celebrate $32,210.10 raised at the conclusion of their Radio for Oncology radiothon.

This year the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation has been raising funds for three new microscopes and other Laboratory equipment used in the diagnosis of cancer and other disease.  The microscopes cost around $25,000 each.

Wood Gundy donates in support of better cancer care.

CIBC Wood Gundy employee Grace Clark volunteers in the GBHS Cancer Centre. In recognition of her volunteer hours, CIBC Wood Gundy donated $500 in support of cancer care at the hospital. She presented a cheque to staff recently.

McHappy Day was held May 3

Christine & Steve Sgro and their staff presented $18,068 in support of new infant incubators for the Hospital's Intensive Care Nursery. $1 from each Big Mac, Happy Meal and hot beverage (and lots of red hearts & socks) sold on McHappy Day will benefit young families locally. Thanks to McDonald's staff, volunteers and customers in Meaford, Owen Sound and Port Elgin!

RBC supports nursing education

To celebrate Nursing Week, May 8 - 12, RBC Royal Bank donated $10,000 in support of continuing education and training for nurses.  The gift was part of a $70,000 commitment in Grey, Bruce, Wellington, Perth and Dufferin Counties.

Branch 340 Royal Canadian Legion presented $3,000 from its Poppy Fund and $2,000 from its Auxilliary in support of Pathology Microscopes at an April 4 meeting. Grey-Bruce Electric Supply has been the presenting sponsor of our Curling Funspiel for many years! Greg Hargest, center presents $3,000 to Funspiel volunteers Bob Miller, Barb Severs, Carole Frook and Dennis Radbourne.

Our Funspiel held February 28 at Blue Water Curling Club raised just over $20,000 for new diagnostic equipment for the Hospital!

President, Anne McCallum, left and Ladies Auxilliary 1st Vice-President, Mary Mahar, right of Branch 6, Royal Canadian Legion, Owen Sound, present $7,500 to Development Officer, Willard VanderPloeg in support of new infant incubators. The grant was presented on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Command Charitable Foundation at a recent Branch 6 membership meeting.

Macdonald's Furniture & Appliances helped furnish the Annex: the hospital's new learner and physician residence recently established in Owen Sound. Four generations of the Macdonald family: Charlie, Greg, Tara, Hunter and Tom Macdonald presented a cheque to Tara Saab, right and Kelsey Sutherland of GBHS Medical Affairs.

Retired Bell Canada employee Sharon Coleman, left presents a $2,500 donation to Foundation Executive Director, Paul Weitendorf. Bell made the donation in recognition of volunteer service performed at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital by former employees

Tracey (r) and Melissa (l) McKay presented $1,150 for Cancer Services raised during an Owen Sound Ladies Selects fastball tournament held earlier in 2016. The donation was made in memory of Garry Edmonstone, loved former coach of Leon's Ladies Fastball.
