Running for Réjane
There are few women that have inspired and motivated me the way my mother has. If you have ever met Réjane, you have met a woman with endless compassion, a teacher, and incredibly resilient. She has had a tremendous impact wherever she has worked or volunteered on those she encounters as well as the community at large. In May of 2021, my mother broke the news that she had cancer and would now be taking on the fight of her life. A fight that she, nor her family, ever envisioned she would have to take on.
In Canada, 1 in 2 Canadians is expected to be diagnosed with Cancer with 43% of those cases being women (Canadian Cancer Society, 2020). Cancer impacts so many families and in order to provide treatments and continuing research, funding continues to be necessary.
My hope with the Running for Réjane fundraiser is to give back to the Grey Bruce Health Services Cancer Centre (GBHS) for their support of my mother and other patients they see. On October 17th, 2021 I will be participating in the 10km Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. The funds raised together for Running for Réjane will help support the cutting edge and necessary treatment and care offered through the GBHS Cancer Centre.
Please show your support for my courageous mother by donating today. Let’s show Réjane and other mothers, grandmothers, sisters and women alike how much we need them and that they are not facing this fight alone.
All donations are greatly appreciated, and those of $20 or more are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
